Wine
The Winelands of the Western Cape in South Africa are a huge draw for national and international visitors alike,
for the wine tasting certainly, but also for the spectacular beauty, rich history and gastronomic excellence.
Committed to providing our visitors with the latest news and insights, we are constantly visiting wine estates and trying
wines, to ensure we can share with you some of our favourites. Each month we feature a wine or wine estate that we love - it's a tough job but someone has to do it.
Our Favourite Wine of the month
June 2009: Tulbagh wine region
This month our wine buff and MD Richard, features not one but two wines of the month after he dropped into the small historic town of Tulbagh located about an hour inland from Cape Town.
"The wine region of the Western Cape is ever expanding and the Tulbagh wine route has a number of vineyards now making a name for themselves internationally.
From a number of tastings, two wines really stood out for me. The first was the excellent Full Circle 2006 from the Saronsberg estate a Rhône-style blend that has gained recent acclaim by winning a gold medal in the 2009 round of the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards.
I am also a fan of Rijks Private Cellar and from a selection of good wines the Rijks Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 was a real stand out, although the 2003 is my particular favourite"
