The Winelands of the Western Cape in South Africa are a huge draw for national and international visitors alike, for the wine tasting certainly, but also for the spectacular beauty, rich history and gastronomic excellence.

Committed to providing our visitors with the latest news and insights, we are constantly visiting wine estates and trying wines, to ensure we can share with you some of our favourites. Each month we feature a wine or wine estate that we love - it's a tough job but someone has to do it.

Our Favourite Wine of the month

July 2009: Caveau Wine Bar, Central Cape Town

It has been wet and windy in Cape Town this month, so we have taken to tasting and drinking our wine indoors around an open fire. Our favourite place to do this: Caveau Wine Bar in the centre of Cape Town. Located in the historic Heritage Square, Caveau is always warm, welcoming and vibey and the huge bonus is that they serve literally hundreds of South African wines by the glass. It's a great place to go after work, order a few plates of tapas from the blackboard menu and sample a range of great wines from their monthly recommendations of something different, to easy drinking wines or the very best South Africa has got to offer. You can sample to your hearts delight.

We also love their second branch in the suburbs, Caveau at the Mill. Situated inside the national landmark of Josephine's Mill, it is located literally next door to the famous Newlands rugby and cricket stadiums.
