Wine
The Winelands of the Western Cape in South Africa are a huge draw for national and international visitors alike,
for the wine tasting certainly, but also for the spectacular beauty, rich history and gastronomic excellence.
Committed to providing our visitors with the latest news and insights, we are constantly visiting wine estates and trying
wines, to ensure we can share with you some of our favourites. Each month we feature a wine or wine estate that we love - it's a tough job but someone has to do it.
Our Favourite Wine of the month
December 2008: De Trafford 2005 ELEVATION "393"
We celebrated Christmas with a bottle of De Trafford 2005 ELEVATION "393", a stunning red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon,
Merlot and Shiraz. De Trafford Winery is a small boutique estate situated on the beautiful Mont Fleur farm set at the top
of a dramatic valley above Stellenbosch. The winery takes some finding up a long winding track but if you are a wine buff,
then this has to be on your list and is well worth the trek. De Trafford might be small in size, but is big in reputation.
Famous for their reds they also make a great Chenin Blanc.
Tip: give the winery a call before you visit as they don't always have a full selection available for tasting.
