Our Favorite Place to Play this month

Chapman's Peak Drive, Hout Bay, Cape Town

After two years of closure due to rock slides and safety improvements, this spectacular, scenic drive is now reopen and we think it is a must for people visiting Cape Town.

Rising from the village of Hout Bay, the toll road winds slowly up the mountain side to a viewing point at the top that is the place to stop for panoramic views and photos. Keep some film at the ready though because it is only when you start to descend down the other side of the pass that the real drama unfolds. The winding road literally hugs the cliff face and as you round the final corner, the vast expanse of Noordhoek beach sweeps into the distance. A walk on the beach is a must as is a stop at the Cape Point Vineyards for a taste of some of the regions top white wines. The Noordhoek farm village is also a great place to stop for lunch at The Food Barn Bistro and Deli or at Café Roux.
We then suggest a drive back over Ou Kaapse Weg, dropping down into the Constantia Valley on the way back into Town. This can all be done in half a day, but we suggest you take your time and make a full day of it.
