Dine
South Africa must have the biggest selection of stunning restaurants, cafes and coffee shops in the world; particularly Cape Town and the
Winelands Region which now boast seven of South Africa's top 10 restaurants. You are bound to be spoilt for choice.
So whether you are after fine dining, a casual eatery or a quick coffee on the go - our monthly selection of particular favorites, is a great place to start.
Our Favourite Restaurant of the Month
Jardine bakery Cape town
Rather than fine dining our taste buds tell us its all about great coffee and great pastry this month. So Kim and Kate, two cake connoisseurs from our sister company Wedding Concepts, were on the look out for a place to pick up a quick and tasty breakfast along with a good cup of coffee.
They found the place conveniently situated around the corner from Travel Concepts HQ at the Jardine Bakery on Bree Street. Writes Kate
"Located next to Jardine restaurant one of South Africans top fine dining experiences, the bakery is little more than a "hole in the wall" with a sidewalk counter and a few ramshackle table and chairs, but it felt like we were grabbing a bite to eat in a European city rather than in the heart of Cape Town's CBD.
The smell of fresh bread was tantalising and the queues were long (the guy in front of us had driven three miles to fetch his breakfast) as the first batch of croissants came out - bacon, almond or plain - along with chorizo and egg tartlets and a selection of delectable pastries and muffins.
Quality cappuccino comes in a standard mug or a mammoth cup for those needing a sufficient caffeine kick to get them going. We both opted for the larger cup, which is served on a rather interesting half-moon shaped saucer along with a biscuit. With legendary homemade pies out of the oven by mid morning, Jardine bakery is a great place to have either breakfast or lunch on the go."
