South Africa is home to some of the world finest game reserves. Famous wildlife sanctuaries like the Kruger National Park and Hluhluwe-Umfolozi have become models of game management for their conservation efforts. Large concentrations of the Big Five can be seen and a variety of activities like walking safaris, canoeing, turtle tours, horse back and elephant back safaris are complimented by the range of sumptuous lodges, tented camps and rustic safari lodges.

South Africa is a prime family holiday destination. The road network is excellent and most hotels are child-friendly with babysitting facilities available. Despite its vast size (South Africa is the 25th biggest country in the world), it is a good self-drive destination with plenty of rest stops, reputable car hire companies, and a range of accommodation and facilities geared towards the family traveller.

Sun seekers have a choice of beaches: from the subtropical eastern coastline, with its warm Indian Ocean, to the rugged, dramatic cliffs of the southern and western coastlines. Lovely fishing villages and coastal resorts are well set up for travellers with a range of villas, guesthouses, boutique hotels and apartments available. Self-drive or fly-in, the choice is yours. Coastal cities like Cape Town and Durban offer visitors the opportunity of combining beach holidays with great shopping, vibrant night and cafe life and cultural excursions.
